📄 Overview

Which Bus is a quiz game about Singapore’s bus network. It asks you to name a bus service from the journey it runs. Nothing about that requires knowing anything about you, so the app is built not to.

This policy covers the Which Bus iOS app published by ARRcade (Anand Raj R). It is short because there is very little to describe.

📋 What We Collect

Nothing. The App Store privacy label for Which Bus is “Data Not Collected”, and the table below is the whole picture.

The two “Apple’s Process” rows are the only paths by which anything leaves your device, and both go to Apple rather than to us. They are described in full below.

📱 What Stays on Your Device

Which Bus keeps a small amount of game state locally, using Apple’s SwiftData and the standard iOS preferences store. None of it is transmitted anywhere, and none of it identifies you.

• One record per completed run: the score, how many routes you were asked, how many you named correctly, your best streak, your fastest answer, and the date you played.
• Preferences: whether sound and haptics are on, and which regions of Singapore you have enabled.
• Your Pro unlock status, cached locally so the app knows what to show while offline.

The career totals behind the Conductor achievements are not stored separately — they are added up from your saved runs each time they are needed.

📶 Network Access

Which Bus makes no network requests of its own. The complete Singapore bus dataset — 313 services and every stop they touch — ships inside the app as a bundled file that is read from local storage at launch. This is a deliberate design choice: it is what lets the game work in an MRT tunnel with no signal.

The app contains no networking code at all. There is no HTTP client, no web view and no third-party SDK that could open a connection. The only frameworks that communicate off-device are Apple’s own StoreKit and Game Center, described below, and both are inert unless you purchase Pro or are signed in to Game Center.

🛡 Permissions

Which Bus requests no permissions whatsoever. You will never see a system prompt asking the app for access to anything.

This is structural rather than a promise. iOS requires an app to declare a written reason for every sensitive permission it wants before it is allowed to ask. Which Bus declares none — there is no entry for location, camera, microphone, photos, contacts, local network, Bluetooth or app tracking. The app therefore cannot request them, and the App Tracking Transparency prompt never appears because there is no tracking to consent to.

The app declares one capability: Game Center, which is what allows the optional leaderboard and achievements to work.

🎮 Game Center

Which Bus offers a global leaderboard for the highest fare collected and twelve achievements. Both are provided by Game Center, Apple’s own gaming service.

This is entirely optional, and the app is deliberately passive about it. Which Bus never presents a Game Center sign-in sheet. If you are already signed in to Game Center on your device, the app connects and can submit scores and achievement progress. If you are not signed in, the app simply plays signed out and nothing is submitted — every leaderboard and achievement call is skipped.

When you are signed in, the data that reaches Apple is your score and your progress towards the twelve achievements, associated with your Game Center player identity. ARRcade never sees your Apple Account, your real name or your email address. Game Center is governed by Apple’s Privacy Policy, not this one.

You can turn Game Center off, or change what it shares, in the Game Center section of your device’s Settings app. Which Bus remains fully playable with it off.

💳 Purchases

Which Bus Pro is a one-time purchase that removes the ten-route cap, adds every feeder and express service, and unlocks region filters. It is a single non-consumable in-app purchase — there is no subscription and nothing recurring.

The purchase is handled entirely by Apple through StoreKit. ARRcade never sees, receives or stores your payment details, billing address or Apple Account information. The app asks Apple whether a valid Pro purchase exists and stores only the yes-or-no answer locally, rechecking it at launch so that a refund or a Family Sharing change is reflected correctly.

Restoring a previous purchase on a new device uses the same Apple mechanism and involves no ARRcade account.

🚌 Bus Route Data

The routes in the game are public transport data, not data about you. Service numbers, origins, destinations, loop points, operators and stop sequences are compiled ahead of release and shipped inside the app. The app does not contact the Land Transport Authority, or anyone else, while you play, and no information about your play is ever sent to them.

🏪 App Store-Supplied Data

Which Bus is distributed through the App Store. Apple receives standard anonymous app metrics — crash reports, launch counts and aggregate usage data — from every app on its platforms, subject to the analytics-sharing setting on your device. ARRcade can see these aggregated, anonymised figures in App Store Connect, but has no access through them to anything that identifies an individual user.

⚖ Your Rights

Because ARRcade holds no data from Which Bus, you exercise every right directly, on your own device, without asking us.

• Access: everything Which Bus stores is visible in the app. ARRcade holds no copy to disclose.
• Deletion: deleting the app removes your scores, your run history and your preferences from the device. To remove leaderboard and achievement data, use the Game Center controls in your device’s Settings app.
• Correction and portability: ARRcade holds no data to correct or to port.
• Withdrawing participation: sign out of Game Center at any time. The game continues to work in full.

For users in the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom, this design means your GDPR rights are satisfied by construction — ARRcade is not a controller or processor of your personal data, because none is ever transmitted to us.

For California residents: Which Bus does not sell or share personal information, and there is no personal information for us to sell. CCPA and CPRA opt-out rights therefore have nothing to act on.

🏃 Children’s Privacy

Which Bus carries a 4+ age rating and contains no objectionable material, no user-generated content and no third-party advertising. It is not part of the App Store Kids Category.

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children, and because the app transmits no personal information to ARRcade from a user of any age, this is satisfied by the app’s architecture rather than by a policy commitment. Game Center participation is optional and is governed by Apple, including the parental controls available through Screen Time.

📣 Changes to This Policy

If we make material changes to this Privacy Policy, we will update the date at the top of this page and note the change in the accompanying app update on the App Store.

Given the app’s architecture — no accounts, no server, no networking code and no third-party SDKs — the scope for meaningful change is narrow. Any change that introduced data collection or an outbound connection would require explicit, informed opt-in before it took effect.
