Does Which Bus need an internet connection?

No. The whole Singapore bus network is bundled inside the app, so Which Bus makes no network calls to play. It works underground on the MRT, on a plane, or anywhere else with no signal. The only network use is Apple's own StoreKit for the Pro purchase and Game Center for the leaderboard.

Which Bus is a quiz built on Singapore's real bus network. Every route in the game is a route that actually runs, pulled from the Land Transport Authority's own data: 313 services, every one asked exactly once. Answer them all and you have named the entire island.

Real routes, not made up

Straight from LTA DataMall.

Origins, destinations and loop points come from the Land Transport Authority's own feed. Loop services show their official loop point, so 857 reads the same thing every bus app on your phone shows.

Service 857 · a loop

A loop has no destination — it circles a town and returns to the interchange it left. What identifies it is where it turns around, and that is LTA's own editorial field, shown verbatim. All 186 loop services carry it. Nothing is approximated.

A wrong answer is actually wrong

The rule that shapes everything.

130 runs Ang Mo Kio Interchange to Shenton Way Terminal. So does 133 — it shadows 130 down most of Thomson Road and ends one stop away.

If the game ever put 133 on the board against 130, a player who knows the network would tap a correct answer and be told they were wrong. So every question carries the precomputed set of services that also make that journey, and they are permanently barred from the board. The check is geographic, not name-based: a rival is disqualified if its route passes within 400 m of the origin and then, later in the same direction, within 400 m of the destination.

130 answer 133 never offered

The same pass computes the good wrong answers — services that leave the same interchange but end up somewhere else entirely. Those are what the board prefers, so recognising the starting point is never enough to answer.

What is Which Bus?

Where does the bus data come from?

LTA DataMall — the Land Transport Authority of Singapore's own open data feed. Every origin, destination, loop point, service category and operator is theirs, along with a road name for every one of Singapore's bus stops. Nothing is invented or approximated, and the dataset is refreshed as LTA amends routes.

Can a correct answer ever be marked wrong?

No. 130 and 133 both run Ang Mo Kio to Shenton Way, so 133 is permanently barred from appearing as a wrong answer to 130's route. Every question knows which services shadow it, and they are kept off the board.

LTA amends routes several times a year and we refresh the dataset to match. If a question looks wrong, tell us the service number — we read everything and reply within 2 business days.
