Klin is a video compression app designed to help you reclaim storage space on your iPhone and iCloud. We believe that your personal data should remain exactly that - personal. This privacy policy explains our approach to privacy and how Klin operates.
The Simple Truth: Klin does not collect, store, share, or transmit any user data whatsoever. Your videos stay on your device, and we never see them.
What Data We Don't Collect
To be completely transparent, here's a comprehensive list of what Klin does NOT collect:
- Videos: We never access, upload, or store your videos on external servers
- Personal Information: No names, email addresses, phone numbers, or contact information
- Usage Analytics: We don't track how you use the app, which features you access, or how often you use Klin
- Device Information: No device identifiers, IP addresses, or device specifications
- Location Data: We don't access or store your location information
- Contacts or Photos: We only access videos you explicitly select for compression, and this happens entirely on your device
- Advertising Data: We don't use advertising SDKs or track you for advertising purposes
- Third-Party Analytics: No third-party analytics services are integrated into Klin
How Klin Works
On-Device Processing
All video compression happens locally on your iPhone using Apple's native video compression frameworks. Your videos never leave your device during the compression process.
Local Storage Management
Klin helps you identify videos that are consuming storage space and allows you to compress them. All operations are performed locally, and you maintain complete control over your content.
iCloud Integration
If you use iCloud Photo Library, compressed videos are handled through Apple's standard iCloud sync mechanism. Klin itself does not interact with iCloud beyond what iOS provides through standard APIs. Your iCloud data remains between you and Apple.
Permissions We Request
Klin requires minimal permissions to function:
Photo Library Access
We request access to your photo library solely to allow you to select videos for compression and to save the compressed versions back to your library. This permission is required for Klin to function, but we only access the specific videos you choose to compress.
Important: Even with this permission, Klin operates entirely on your device and never uploads or transmits your videos anywhere.
Data Storage and Security
Since Klin doesn't collect any data, there's nothing to store or secure on external servers. All app data remains on your device and includes only:
- App preferences and settings (stored locally in iOS app sandbox)
- Temporary files during video compression (automatically deleted after processing)
- No user-identifiable information of any kind
Third-Party Services
Klin does not integrate any third-party services, including:
- No analytics services (e.g., Google Analytics, Firebase)
- No advertising networks
- No crash reporting services
- No social media integrations
- No cloud storage services (except Apple's standard iCloud as managed by iOS)
Children's Privacy
Klin is safe for users of all ages because we don't collect any personal information from anyone, including children under 13. Parents can feel confident that their children's privacy is fully protected when using Klin.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
If we ever make changes to our privacy practices (which would only happen if we add features that genuinely require it), we will update this privacy policy and notify users through an app update. The "Last Updated" date at the top of this policy will reflect when changes were made.
We are committed to maintaining our privacy-first approach. Any future features will be designed with the same principle: your data stays on your device.
Your Rights
Since we don't collect any data, many traditional privacy rights don't apply in the usual sense. However, you always have:
- Complete Control: All your videos and data remain on your device under your control
- Right to Delete: Simply delete the Klin app to remove all app-related data from your device
