Overview
Even is a macOS folder sync app built by ARRcade (developer: Anand Raj R). The guiding principle is absolute: Even does not collect, transmit, or store any personal data. All sync work happens entirely on your Mac. There is no backend, no account system, no analytics, and no telemetry of any kind.
Even v1 has no network access at all. It does not connect to the internet at launch, during sync, or at any other time. There are no optional online features that could send data outbound.
Even does not collect personal data. It does not phone home. It does not track usage. Your files are read and written entirely on your Mac by you, with your approval on every run. Nothing leaves your machine.
What We Collect
Even collects no personal data. No analytics, no telemetry, no crash reporting that leaves your Mac. Here is the complete picture:
| Data Type | Collected? | Accessible to ARRcade? |
|---|---|---|
| Personal information | Not Collected | No |
| Usage analytics or telemetry | Not Collected | No |
| File names, paths, or contents | Not Collected | No |
| Location data | Not Collected | No |
| Device identifiers or advertising identifiers | Not Collected | No |
| Sync pair names and folder paths | On Device Only | No |
| App preferences | On Device Only | No |
Even does not include any analytics SDKs, advertising networks, or third-party crash reporters. The only code in Even beyond Apple frameworks is ARRcade authored sync logic running entirely on your Mac.
Your Files Never Leave Your Mac
Even reads and writes files entirely on your Mac. Every sync operation, whether a Mirror, Backup, or Two Way run, is executed locally. No file content, file name, folder path, or directory listing is transmitted to ARRcade or any external server at any point.
- The full change preview is computed locally before any file is touched.
- Nothing is moved or copied until you explicitly confirm the preview.
- Removed and overwritten files go to the macOS Trash or a per pair versioned archive on your own drives. They are never transmitted anywhere.
- Sync pair configuration (source path, destination path, mode, name) is stored locally in your app's sandbox container and is never synced to a cloud service.
- Security scoped bookmarks that keep your pairs accessible across launches are stored locally on your Mac only.
Even v1 does not have the com.apple.security.network.client entitlement. The Mac App Store sandbox prevents any outbound network connection. Even cannot connect to the internet even if it tried.
No Network Access
Unlike many Mac apps, Even does not request network access at all. There are no optional online features, no update checks, no lookup services, and no telemetry endpoints. The absence of the network entitlement is by design and enforced by the Mac App Store sandbox at the OS level.
The Mac App Store submission process verifies entitlements. Even's entitlement set does not include network access. This is not a policy statement that could change quietly at runtime; it is a property of the app binary that Apple audits at review time.
Permissions & App Sandbox
Even runs in the macOS App Sandbox. All file access is explicit and user initiated. Even can only read or write folders that you select via the macOS open panel or that are stored as security scoped bookmarks from a previous session.
- File access (user selected folders): Even accesses only the source and destination folders you explicitly choose. It has no access to other parts of your filesystem.
- Security scoped bookmarks (app scope): Even uses
com.apple.security.files.bookmarks.app-scopeto remember your chosen folders between launches. These bookmarks are stored locally in your app container and grant access only to the folders you selected. - No network access: Even does not request the network client entitlement.
Even does not request access to your camera, microphone, contacts, calendar, photos, location, or any other sensitive permission beyond the user selected folder access described here.
App Store and In-App Purchase Data
Even is distributed through the Mac App Store. Apple receives standard anonymous app metrics from all apps on their platforms. ARRcade has access to aggregated, anonymised metrics through App Store Connect but has no access to any information that identifies individual users through these channels.
The Even Pro in-app purchase is processed entirely by Apple. Even never sees payment details, card numbers, or any financial information. Apple's standard App Store and StoreKit privacy terms govern the transaction. For details on what Apple collects, see Apple's Privacy Policy.
Your Rights
Because Even stores no personal data beyond your on-device sync pair configuration and security scoped bookmarks, you have complete control at all times.
- Access: There is no personal data to access. ARRcade holds none.
- Deletion: Uninstalling Even removes all local preferences, pair configurations, and bookmarks from your Mac. No data exists on ARRcade servers because none was ever sent.
- Portability: No personal data exists to port.
For users in the European Economic Area (EEA): this design means your GDPR rights are inherently satisfied. No formal request to us is required because no personal data is processed by ARRcade.
For California residents: Even does not sell personal information, so CCPA opt-out rights do not apply. There is no personal information to sell.
Children's Privacy
Even is a folder sync utility designed for general audiences and is not directed at children under 13. Because Even collects no personal data from anyone, this requirement is inherently satisfied.
Changes to This Policy
If we make material changes to this Privacy Policy, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and note the change in the accompanying app update on the Mac App Store.
Given Even's architecture, with no data collection, no network access, and no accounts, the scope for meaningful change is narrow. Any change that introduced data collection or network access would require explicit, informed opt-in from users and an App Store update that Apple reviews.
